Umbrella - GrandmasterJ
This is absolutely the Umbrella from the Resident Evil franchise, if there was any doubt. Umbrella seems to have abandoned their fancy mansion labs and decided a series of boxy rooms connected by hallways is the way to go.

Yes, this map is a Resident Evil themed map. Or as themed to Resident Evil as a sterile laboratory can be. The whole map is a collection of rooms and hallways painted in metallic textures. Large Umbrella corporation logos decorate walls, ceilings, and above certain doors.
The map starts us off in an elevator, a big metal box. We open the Umbrella themed double doors to a metal room and fight some zombies with a lot of health. The room is filled with great weapons and now we are equipped to repeat that exact scenario many many times until the map ends. This isn't a complaint, more of an observation and a factual description of the map's gameplay.
As we get further into the map, we find a very similar room filled with weapons and ammo and the spawn updates there. This new spawn is great but the next room filled with enemies can very easily swarm it. My teammate kept kiting them to a room with barrels in it, keeping out of the monsters' reach while shooting them. I just died a lot when I tried to spawn.
I think the stars of the maps are the custom models. We have a bunch of really gross looking zombies and they have flinch animations where they fall on the ground and get back up. I've seen these animations before and they are always a fun curveball. We have lickers as well which seem like they have some hitbox problem as they were somewhat hard to hit. There are massive tarantulas which die easily, probably because they have huge hitboxes, that spit at us. Then there are these funny torso zombies that move slowly and have no reach and they are just so cute and pathetic. Lastly, big scientists that run at us and act like gonomes. No boss or anything, all these enemies come at players in groups over and over again and they have hundreds of health each.
The map needs two people to open all the two-button doors in it. I don't think any closed once we opened it, but there were a lot of doors that needed to button presses at once and I don't really know why. Regardless, this map needs more players to keep up the firepower needed to survive enemy dumps. Eventually we open a door up to space and the map ends when we walk inside. I didn't realize Umbrella was hiding space in their basement.
Pros:
- Great custom models
- Good weapon selection and ammo amounts
- I appreciate the Umbrella branding
- Updating spawns are always good
Cons:
- Gameplay is repetitive
- The spawn areas can be overrun very easily
- the enemies have a lot of health and some are hard to hit, bullet sponges aren't the most fun
Score: 6 / 10
