Splatter - Dunkelschwamm

Image
It's a fairly standard kill box map. There are a bunch of monsters in a pit, safely away from players, and players get to pour death down the hole at their leisure. SCMapDB page Author: Robootto Date of release: 2003 Maps in package: 1 Map review of Splatter (originally posted on SCMapDB) by dunkelschwamm | March 11, 2023 | 2038 characters      Splatter is a gimmick map for Sven Co-op. Some hatches in the floor allow easy access for players to drop explosives and other armaments down upon infinitely respawning aliens. That'll teach them to be aliens!      Players are supplied with rockets, satchel charges, grenades, a gauss rifle (necessary for catapulting one's self up into an upper area), under barrel grenades, and some other weapons. What matters is the explosives you can drop on the enemies. This is surprisingly fun, and the small area through which you can shoot at the enemies can make for some fun games of trying to get your explosive in the hole from

Drop a satchel charge in, launch a rocket, perhaps lob an underbarrel grenade. The monsters respawn near instantly.      That's about it for interactivity. There are some interesting things to look at, some checkerboard missing textures, a stack of unbreakable boxes, and a weird booth behind some chain link with a bunch of satchel charges in front of it. The map description says that's an admin room, and it certainly had a bunch of buttons that did some stuff. But there is no discernable way in or out,

Big Room Guy 2 - Dunkelschwamm

This map is a nightclub that is locked up tight unless somebody goes through the secret way in and mans the ticket booth. The map has a dance floor with limited music mixing and a few other things. SCMapDB page Author: Unknown Date of final release: 2002 Maps in package: 1 Map review of Big Room Guy 2 (originally posted on SCMapDB) by dunkelschwamm | October 27, 2022 | 3454 characters      Big Room Guy 2 is a party server map, complete with secret VIP passages and a barrier to entry to ensure exclusivity.      The map is a very simple club. Players enter into a queue at a gate and a person behind a ticket booth opens and closes it for them. This does have to a player operating the booth from the other side, and the inside of the booth is only accessible from the admin room, so knowledge on how to enter the secret admin room from the waiting area is necessary before the map can really begin. So, I'm going to disclose that here- there is a secret non-tangible wall you can walk

Just inside the door is a line for a ticket booth, we can't jump over the ropes or the gate, we are trapped. So I go to the comments to see what's up and here is BlueSpark to the rescue. I can't explain it any better so I'm just going to copy and paste the whole thing right here: "..It's just rather exclusive! Club goers can only be admitted by the person inside the ticket booth. The booth can only be accessed from the admin room - how do you get into the admin room? Well, in this map not all walls are as soli

Adam's Puzzles - Dunkelschwamm

There aren't really any puzzles in this map. The map is all about answering trivia questions. Each room has at least four paths to go and only the one labelled with the answer will allow the player through unharmed. SCMapDB page Author: Adambean Date of final release: 2009 Maps in package: 1 Map review of Adam's Puzzles (originally posted on SCMapDB) by dunkelschwamm | January 29, 2022 | 4345 characters      Adam's Puzzles is a cute high-concept server map, where the concept is multiple choice questions. Room after room, players are treated to an interesting vignette setting and a multiple choice question. By choosing one of the doors, you seal your fate- you either chose correctly and continue to the next question, or you chose incorrectly and fall into a certain death trap. It's very straight-forward in its concept. For winning, players are treated to a lounge area with security cameras for watching other players struggle with answers, a swimming pool, a pornog

This map is that concept, but instead of randomly picking a path there are questions the players must answer. The map is called Adam's Puzzles, but its really just Adam's quiz.      Most of the questions could be solved by a quick google, the last question was a large math problem that both my teammate and I agree the correct answer in the map has a typo that makes it incorrect. There was also a q

Maps that attempt to recreate a sport are fighting an uphill battle. Ball physics are simply nonexistent. The ball in this map is a pushable ashtray. SCMapDB page Author: acehigh Date of final release: 2005 Maps in package: 1 Map review of Ace Football (originally posted on SCMapDB) by dunkelschwamm | January 16, 2022 | 2925 characters      ace-football is a goof-off map which takes place in a soccer field complete with an ash tray to use as the soccer ball. It's pretty simple to play. There's no automatic reset after a point is scored, and points being scored are counted in the moment only by a text notification of a team scoring a goal and nothing else. In addition to this, there is also an admin room with buttons to move brushes across the field, catching and squishing players. Player spawns are in a red or blue team locker room, so delineating teams is as easy as leaving it to spawn order.      Where this map goes somewhat off the rails is where the the stuff on TOP

But I had hoped for something fun. I don't think this map delivered fun.      I spawned in the red locker room. For some reason the red locker room has another room filled with friendly enemies. There was a Big Momma, Shock Trooper, two soldiers, one of the npcs had the skin of the floater, an enemy cut from Half-Life, and some others. These NPCs did nothing but leave the room and get in the way of the players. The blue locker room does not have this menagerie of useless barriers.      Outside of the locker rooms is the football (soccer) field. It's a wide open space with an ashtray
