Break the Glass - Dunkelschwamm

I'll give you ten guesses as to what this map is about. After breaking the progressively stronger glass panes a scientist and his two friends is revealed. Several panes of glass stand parallel to one another, completely from one side of a large room to the other, obstructing the player's progression forward. The player must break through each using crowbars to proceed. Does it work?      I'd say maybe with a bunch of players it would. The players move from one end of the room to the other breaking the glass, which takes a while to break each pane, until they get to a scientist, a barney, and an otis. Bashing the brains out of the scientist immediately ends the map. The guards are inconsequential, and will only fire if the players act h

The map is one big room with the same brick texture on all sides and many glass panes separating players from Otis, Kliener, and Barney. The glass panes get progressively stronger and players are only armed with a crowbar. With two players it took about ten minutes to break through, kill the scientist, thus instantly ending the map.      We restarted again, this time cheating to get SAWs, and blazed through about 1400 rounds each before breaking all the panes and killing Otis and Barney and letting the scientist live. He ran in terror as we shot at his feet. I traced a nice cowering scientis

Players enter into a queue at a gate and a person behind a ticket booth opens and closes it for them. This does have to a player operating the booth from the other side, and the inside of the booth is only accessible from the admin room, so knowledge on how to enter the secret admin room from the waiting area is necessary before the map can really begin. So, I'm going to disclose that here- there is a secret non-tangible wall you can walk

SCMapDB page Author: Socrates Date of final release: 2000 Maps in package: 1 Map review of Canal (originally posted on SCMapDB) by dunkelschwamm | October 27, 2022 | 2728 characters      Canal is an arena map for Sven Co-op. In it, you can expect to battle headcrabs, houndeyes, vortigaunts, bullsquids, and occasional grunts as they endlessly respawn. To this end, players are armed with a simple but satisfying boilerplate arsenal of an MP5, shotgun, and magnum. During gameplay we never found ourselves running out of ammo, despite being crafty enough to stay alive quite often.      There is a modest moat which surrounds a central arena platform- I presume this is the titular "canal". Falling into this water presents the player with the threat of many leeches, as well as the headcrabs

There is a small amount of ammo in the corner but players spawn in with quite a bit of ammo to begin with.      The map is real small and consists of a canal with a small island in the middle that is connected to the sides with bridges. One one side of the map is a ladder that leads to a catwalk t

Not a void, *the* void. There is no lighting, as the entire map is a leak.      Press a button, open a door, battle alongside a gorilla against zombies, a robot with too much health, two invincible headcrabs, a xenomorph (with too much health), and Richard Boderman (with an amount of health I think might be excessive). Players are equipped to deal with this via a shotgun, mp5, handgun, 357, crowbar, and medkit with nowhere near enough ammo. As the gonome enemies began appearing my teammate and I would hop off th

Falling off the side of the checkerboard will result in falling forever without death. That's kind of a cool feature.      Except there is also extra stuff below the map that we can see as we fall f

Now, when you say Resident Evil, you might think: "gosh, what a media franchise! What Resident Evil could you mean? Do you mean the first game in the puzzle mansion? Or the second game, with the police station? Or the third game, on the streets? Or the movie franchise, which is totally different?" This map starts off strong with a beautiful opening, a great looking street, and it actually looks like a Resident Evil themed map. It's got a lot of backtracking and a combination of few enemies and firepower makes a lot of the map pretty boring.      The map starts with difficulty selection, normal and hard. We opted for normal but in hindsight that may have made the map far too easy for two seasoned players. Regardless of difficulty players get shown a cutscene introduction and are dropped onto the city streets. There are no ene

I'm doing my best to like them I really am. Unlike the others, this map is not a linear walkthrough map but instead a never ending horde map with some fun objectives scattered around the map. It's probably my favorite Resident Evil themed Sven Co-op map so far.      Players spawn in a tiny room with a lady named "Kill me to end the map", a nearby hole drops players into a three way choice of spawn points around the main map. There is also the wrench here which is reskinned to be a chainsaw, that's fun

Multiple times we had to traverse the entire level, once we had to go from the lowest depths underwater in the sewers to the top floor of the mansion and then back just to grab a valve. The result is the marriage of two distinct flavors of jank, some systems that fall apart in tandem, and some middling horror-action in some middling mansion environments.      The map begins with the players in a spawn area where they must choose a class from three (the one with the gun and the medkit is the only acceptable answer- this class system is silly and unbal

The map begins with the players outside of the titular castle, which is entered either through a chomper trap front door or a higher up entrance that players ascent blocks to reach. Once inside, the map is dark save for some intense colored lighting and some strobes. The inside and the outside of the castle, alike, are mostly nonsensical structures which are a bit interesting to look at, the way geometric shapes tend to be from time to time, but drenched in eye-searing strobe.      Players can find doors that open to the word "Hell" emblazoned on brushwork. Players hop into func_vehicle buses (which work great, btw), arrive at a super market (wh
