Sin's Room - GrandmasterJ
Rats maps are really fun and such a simple concept, make a really big room and let players explore it. Of course, if players are going to explore then they need some way to travel to the extreme heights in such a map.

I love rats maps. Being a small terror in a big world is just really funny to me. So I went into this map expecting fun, even if the screenshots looked sparse.
This map suffers from one big problem, players can't go where they need to go. There is a lot of furniture and the tops of them are all good places to be. Players are given a barnacle but besides the enemies and players on the map, there is nothing to grapple. So the map quickly devolved into either myself or my partner spawning in a place we both wanted to be and then the other grapples onto them to get there. There are some places that players don't spawn so the only way up is to cheat.
There are a handful of enemies to kill, the first and most pressing is an invisible soldier running around on the floor. He has a lot of health and it takes up all of our energy trying to kill him. There are Barney's on top of some cabinet that shoot at him so that does help.
There is a gargantua in the bed. I got to him by falling into a hole that I could not get back out of and then falling into another hole. We killed him by cheating because he had 24,000 health and we were ferrying grenades to the top of the bed by barnacle grappling off each other.
This map is frustrating because it gives us places to explore and enemies to kill but then makes it nearly impossible to do either of those things. The map is very light on things to do besides getting places that are hard to get to and then killing enemies with a lot of health with either shit weapons or weapons ferried via intense teamwork. It's not great.
Also the map looks rough. I wouldn't call it ugly but I would say uninspired, flat, and there are some textures stretched out in ugly ways. There is a long picture of Carmen Electra if that's your thing.
Pros:
- The Barneys help some
- at least the map had a barnacle
- Carmen Electra
Cons:
- traversing the map is a nightmare
- a lot of fun stuff is almost impossible to discover without cheating
- due to the above two points, getting the right weapons to fight enemies is a painful process
- enemies have too much health, being invisible doesn't help matters
- big, stretched out textures don't look so good in this map
Score: 2 / 10
