Big Room Guy 3 - GrandmasterJ

The whole map is a skatepark, with one half indoors in what one would call a big room, and the other half is outdoors. There is a drivable skateboard but it is on a track and does not go outside.

This map is a pretty cool skate park. There are two areas, an indoor park complete with bar area and rideable skateboard, and an outdoor park with no interactive things but it does have enticing doors that to not go anywhere.

The rideable skateboard is pretty cool, it's stuck to a track and rides around the level, going up and down ramps. It will absolute splatter anybody who gets in the way. The rest of the map is just half-pipes, rails, and other constructions that aren't really fun to interact with in the goldsrc engine. That skateboard is really the best thing in the map and there needs to be more of it.

Beyond that there are some taps in the bar that make fun sounds when used. I noclipped around and behind one door I triggered a sound clip, there is really no way to open the door and there is nothing behind it anyway.

That's the map, I think it would have been really fun if it had been filled with skateboards. Give us some skateboards without tracks, that would be crazy. Instead it is a well made map with nothing to do. One person gets to ride the skateboard, a couple people can play with the taps, and the rest can be bored.

Pros:

  • Good looking map, nails the skate park look
  • the ridable skateboard is really fun
  • fun sounds on the taps

Cons:

  • only one skateboard, so in a co-op game only one player gets to actually skate in the skate park
  • nothing to do beyond the one skateboard and the taps
  • the architecture doesn't lend itself well to being interacted with in goldsrc outside a func_vehicle
Score: 4.5 / 10
