Army - Dunkelschwamm
The map name doesn't seem to really describe what is going on in the map. There is a very small and simple maze, followed by a large area with shipping containers, female assassins are everywhere.

Army is a a clearly very early map from a mapper who would go on to be quite prolific. Follow corridors to a cargo hold, fighting female assassins throughout using an assortment of weapons (just use the exploding crossbow bolts- it's the best). Once they're all dead there's nothing else to do other than climb a ladder to traverse a tiny strip of brush above the cargo hold.
For how unfinished the map is, it plays fine. Taking an arsenal to corridors full of ninjas doesn't get old fast, especially if you've got a good HEV charge on you. The environments, while boilerplate and boring, give that surreal vibe that early 90's 3D demos do. This isn't helped by the seemingly lower gravity and lack of a flashlight. Just, really weird. Weird map. Kinda frustrating when it just sorta, like, is over.
That's the map. There's no ending, so don't put it in a map rotation. If you wanna fight a bunch of assassins with a friend, go for it. This is a map wherein you can do that!
Pros:
- Fight assassins with lotsa guns and HEV, good time
- The restock areas are well stocked.
Cons:
- The map is clearly unfinished. Beyond the fight with the assassins, there is nothing to this map
- The map is confusingly over without ending after the fight with the assassins
Score: 3.5 / 10
