Zombie Darkness-4 Dust Survive Map-1 - GrandmasterJ
This map's name is a mouthful. It is essentially a monster hunt map. The arena uses the de_dust textures to create a new area highly reminiscent of de_dust. Four monsters with high health and interesting models from Counter-Strike: Nexon are scattered around for players to hunt.

There are a lot of zombie maps on scmapdb. I wanted to play a zombie map and I chose this one for some reason. It wasn't as bad as I feared but it was way worse than I had hoped.
If you've ever played Mega Monster Massacre this map is almost exactly the same. It uses textures and inspiration from de_dust but it is not actually de_dust. It is an arena with wide corridors and some crates with just four enemies sprinkled around and each one has an astronomical amount of health.
There are three zombies with 20,000, 25,000, 30,000 health, and one with a staggering 200,000 health. Murdering these poor fools is not difficult in the slightest, it just takes forever. The first zombie we encountered sprinted towards us and then after a couple hundred bullets it abandoned that idea and ran around in circles panicked. Most of the zombies did this. Players also run faster than the zombies, so they can very easily be outrun. Most of the time I hoped onto a crate and just dumped bullets into them. The zombie with the highest health is in a small room with a platform above it. We stood on the platform and wasted every single bullet we had, then we suicided to get more ammo, then did it again, and then suicided again before finally killing him. It's not challenging, its tedious.
The best parts of this map are the custom weapons and models. Players are made to use custom models of some girl with different skins for different players. The zombies look real good and disgusting. The weapons look great, sound great, and have great animations. The dual mp5s (I think they are mp5s) have a really funny reload animation where the player simply tosses the guns aside and picks up two new ones. There is a problem with two of the pistols missing models for their shell casings, after my teammate and I exhausted our ammunition we switched to pistols and ERROR models began to clutter up our screens. The weapon selection also has this glitch where when cycling through the pistols there is a sprite sheet for the player's HUD cluttering up the upper left corner. It makes it hard to enjoy the weapons.
This map ends when the 200,000 health zombie is killed. Our first playthrough we killed all the other zombies before finding the last one, so we played it again with cheats to kill the zombie before killing the others. The map ends on this zombie's death, so there is no need to hunt down the others.
I enjoyed the custom models and weapons. I don't know if the author of this map made them, I highly doubt it. The combat was not fun, the map design was mostly dark and uninteresting, the zombies barely put up a fight, we had to commit suicide just to get more ammo, and the map ends immediately after a certain zombie is killed even if other zombies are alive. The map is supposed to be a survival map but it felt like we were hunting slow children.
Pros:
- Really cool custom models
- the custom weapons were fun
Cons:
- enemies have too much health
- enemies are incredibly easy to cheese
- enemies pose incredibly little challenge
- missing shell casing models, glitched out weapon select
- lack of ammo mandated strategic suicide for more ammo
Score: 4 / 10
