Hamsters - Dunkelschwamm



    Hamsters is a classic map made for Counter-Strike 1.6 by the legendary mapper, Nipper. The whole map is a hamster habitat floating in space. The walls are transparent making enemy movement obvious. It's a really good map for Counter-Strike 1.6.

    Hamsters is a classic Nipper Counter-Strike map. This port is faithful in its port of that map and changes nothing, making it little more than a hangout map. While crawling around in tubes does have a McDonald's playplace feel to it and the spinning wheels are very fun, this port has pretty limited options for Sven players.

    If you have a hangout server, I think you should probably stick to maps made specifically for hangout servers and maybe leave this one off the rotation. I can't imagine players finding more than 5 minutes of novelty out of not killing one another in this location.

Pros:

  • The original Nipper map is a classic with fun brushwork and design which keeps it interesting for Counter-Strike gameplay.
  • Has some use as a hangout map, but players would have to bring a lot of their own fun.

Cons:

  • This map isn't designed for Sven Co-op and feels a bit pointless within.

   I'm a big fan of Sven Co-op, so much so that I was only half joking when I presented the terrible idea of playing and reviewing every map to my partner in crime, Dunkelschwamm. Much to my surprise she agreed and now here we are, 371 maps in to the 1558 maps currently on the Sven Co-op map database . It was done primarily to get people to stop leaving reviews in the comments and to actually put them in the review section.         Swiss Cheese Halloween is a conversion of an ancient Half-Life mod of the same name. It was made back in the whimsical time of 2002 by an author who goes by Swiss Cheese, hence the map name.        Kill a bunch of soldiers and aliens in some generic warehouses and offices somewhere in a red brick city. It's a pretty straightforward map that requires at least two people.
