    Some maps are made for a liner experience, walk through the map while accomplishing objectives/killing dudes. This map opts for the opposite, it is an open map with no objectives to accomplish and nobody to kill. It's a waterpark!

Map review of Fun Waterpark

    fun-waterpark is a map which has a singular goal which it achieves ruthlessly and efficiently: make a fun waterpark. Waterpark attractions are faithfully recreated in a very simplistic and care-free style which all enhances the summer fun atmosphere.

    The real star of the map is the water attractions. To that end, there are tube-slides which propel the player along with surprisingly few hiccups. There is a set of large, blue, parallel slides in one of the corners of the park which seems difficult to ride without taking damage- not an issue, really, since it could be presumed that a map like this may be played on a godmode server anyway. One of my favorite bits is a zipline into a pool. There's also quite a few pools, as well, each with their own slides or methods of entry, as well as surrounding chairs and hangout areas, to accommodate a large number of players.

    Beyond the fun slide gimmicks around the pool, there are server hangout, chat, and RP possibilities invited through park shops with very simplistically, maybe even sloppily, but effectively illustrated shop interiors.

    The map suffers slightly, perhaps subjectively so, from some very plain lighting which makes the map almost appear to be fullbright at times. Less subjectively, the map suffers from fighting with the draw distance. Some slides are gobbled up by the skybox from the far ends of the very pools they lead into. I sympathize with the difficulty the engine can exhibit in allowing greater draw distances, but it definitely inflicts its damage on the visuals.

    For anybody interested in a fun kickback map to serve as a virtual chatroom, fun-waterpark provides a fun, easygoing, Summer-evoking environment with lots of attractions to keep the fun times rolling.

Pros:

• Just enough interesting attractions to make hanging out in a waterpark in Sven Co-op fun.
• Successful theming brings about the playful warmth of waterparks in the Summer.
• The zipline in particular is a lot of fun.
• Some really impressive brushwork on the slides.
• Lots of side areas for chatting, hanging out, sitting on digital furniture in digital environments having a cool digital time.

Cons:

• Some of the slides do stick, and one set of slides in particular consistently damages players who use it.
• The shallow water doesn't look as good as the rest.
• Many of the textures were simple to the point of feeling sort of uninteresting to look at at best, sloppy at worst.
• The draw distance is a major bummer, man.
