Act of Bingus - Dunkelschwamm
In the map description the author promises this is the last map he'll ever make. I don't know what the story behind that is, but I just had to experience it for myself.

Act of Bingus is a charming little arcadey map clearly made for a handful of gags that doesn't overstay its welcome. Two rival shops face one another. The players are given ludicrous weaponry right out the gate with very quickly respawning ammo for a great time. High HP enemies spawn in in waves to battle.
Two players running around hammering high HP enemies with SAWs containing way too much ammo is the most satisfying tedium can get, but tedious it does get before its short runtime is complete. Thanks in part to the overly simplistic arena layout, battling enemies never evolves past running back and away from them while simultaneously firing a SAW backwards at them.
Each wave of enemy is a treat. I'm sure these models come from elsewhere, but getting attacked by the sudden T-Rexes or the chanting oldschool meme smileys was a treat and kept the map entertaining throughout. It's really a shame about the flat arena, though, because even when enemies shift from mindless zombies to gargantuas, your tactics really don't really change at all.
The map is full of funny little gags. For the blocky, simplistic brushwork that makes up the map there's a lot of charm and style throughout. There's music, some memes, most of it is pretty niche injoke humor but it carries a very fun energy throughout. When it ends abruptly I'd say the map had accomplished enough.
If you run a server with fun comedic maps or are looking for something to play with a couple friends for some cute fun, give Act of Bingus a go.
Pros:
- Consistently charming from beginning to end
- Doesn't overstay its welcome
- Cute enemy models
- Lots of quickly respawning ammo
- All of the little gags throughout are fun
Cons:
- Grinding down high HP enemies on a flat arena with little cover is as basic and tedious as gameplay can get
- The brushwork itself doesn't evoke much of an idea of the proposed locations.
Score: 6.5 / 10
