2bases - GrandmasterJ
This map is exactly what it describes, two bases in a large arena with human grunts infinitely spawning in. The name starts with '2' which places it quite high in the alphabetical listing of maps.

This is a very simple straightforward map where the players are given loads of ammo, health, and HEV to fight tons of human grunts.
I really appreciate this map for what it is trying to do. There is no end of the level and no end to the grunts, it is just a neverending deathmatch. I really like how the author didn't skip the underbarrel grenades. I absolutely love using them and most of my time on this map is spent bunnyhopping around and lobbing grenades. After a little bit of playing I got really good at hitting the grunts directly and being rewarded with a rain of gibs. The map design is well done. It is very simple but provides plenty of obstacles and cover for the neverending fight.
Some of the comments say how this map is good for training, to me it feels like a hangout map. It feels like something to play in between maps while deciding what else to play. I would rather end up here at the end of a map cycle than the campaign portal.
That all said, there are two main issues I have with the map. The first is that the players can get stuck in the turrets. This is something that is fairly common to turrets in sven so I'm starting to suspect it's an issue with turrets and not the map. The second issue is that sometimes the human grunts will get into the spawn buildings and attack players as soon as they spawn in. They are fairly easy to push out and even after just spawning I am able to kill them before they can kill me.
Pros:
- The map is focused to a specific goal (neverending combat) and achieves it well
- simple yet effective map design
- underbarrel grenades for the M16
Cons:
- Grunts can get into the player spawn so players are immediately under attack when they respawn
- wonky turrets are better off unused
Score: 8 / 10
