2bases - Dunkelschwamm
This map is exactly what it describes, two bases in a large arena with human grunts infinitely spawning in. The name starts with '2' which places it quite high in the alphabetical listing of maps.

2bases is a fun way to race up the scoreboards with friends. Without a lack of pressure to stay alive, and with a metric ton of military ordinance to go to town on respawning grunts, it's hard to find much to complain about.
When a friend and I first hopped on this map, we were initially swept under the tide of respawning grunts. It was difficult to first get our footing and realize the wealth of resources around us, but upon familiarizing ourselves further with the layout of the map we quickly began dismantling the foothold the grunts had built and began dominating the battlefield. From there we would find more and more efficient ways to slaughter vast numbers of grunts. I quite enjoyed using satchel charges, a revolver, and the mounted turrets above the base, while my friend was finding himself enjoying the use of the M203 grenade launcher. He had quite an impressive lead in kills, but with some use of corralling enemies from their spawn point I started to pull ahead.
If you want something to play mindlessly with friends, I think this is a good pick. Just constant slaughter. It can be a bit hard at first, especially if players let the grunts infiltrate the spawn area, but with a little bit of getting used to the battlefield you can quickly turn fights to your advantage.
Pros:
- Great fun if you love shooting digital soldiers.
- A sturdy arsenal really makes the whole thing very playable.
- The level layout in general is pretty thoughtful and keeps action tight.
- Decent brushwork with lots of detail where it wasn't necessary but was appreciated.
Cons:
- Enemies getting into the spawn is bad.
- I got stuck in one of the big, bulky turrets.
- It would have been nice if the enemy spawns were a little more hidden. Watching them pop into existence always deflates the previous victories.
Score: 7.6 / 10
