Bad Training - Dunkelschwamm

The map is called 'Bad Training' but I'm not sure what the map is training me for, perhaps because there are some targets in the map? Both the author and release date are unknown so the mystery is likely to remain unsolved. SCMapDB page Author: Unknown Date of final release: Unknown Maps in package: 1 Map review of Bad Training (originally posted on SCMapDB) by dunkelschwamm | September 17, 2022 | 1879 characters      Bad Training is a very short walkthrough map for Sven Co-op. It is not very competently made, but that's not to say it's a bad map. Let's explain.      Now, I have to admit up front, this is an ugly map. This map doesn't look good. It is very function over form, but there are many functionless choices- from the strange choices of textures to the easily climbed walls to the robogrunts who attack right out of spawn. Everything here is a questionable choice that detracts from the overall map.      However, there's something fun at play

The map also ahs a fade in, so we are getting shot without being able to see anything. There is a doorway but it is blocked by a crate, there is no ceiling, just sky, so we jump on top of some crates and we can see right over the walls. We can see and hear tons of robo grunts and there is a kingpin right there on the other side of the wall. Some robo grunts got lured into a fight with the kingpin, it was great. After trying to throw all manner of explosives and

Crusher - Dunkelschwamm

This map's claim to fame is the large crushing machine the map is named after. The crusher works really really well and that is all that matters in a map about crushing. SCMapDB page Author: Unkown Date of final release: 2000 Maps in package: 1 Map review of Crusher (originally posted on SCMapDB) by dunkelschwamm | May 30, 2022 | 3391 characters      Crusher is a map by author unknown. It's exactly what's printed on the tin: there's a great big ol' crusher, and you smoosh scientists in it. It's great. You mash a button and two big jagged jaws of rusty metal moosh their meaty bods together, gets stuck and jitters a bit as they make crushing meat sounds, then clamp as they join. They retract and a pile of gibs remain- until the next batch of scientists appear.      If that was the entire map, that would be the entire map. But no, Crusher has some baffling side areas featuring friendly NPCs. One is an area accessible only by climbing down a ladder, wherein B

The main attraction is a large crushing machine with five scientists that spawn endlessly right in the machine's jaws. The button to activate the crusher is a massive cube, it was not apparent that it was a button at first, but I think the giant button was fitting. If you stand on the button and press it you can jump into the machine just in time!      There is a hallway that goes around behind the machine with another button for the crusher and two spawners that makes about fives scientists and five Barneys each. We led all the Barneys into the machine and mulche

Inflight is a small map with a simple concept. Players spawn in a destructible plane and alien controllers surround the plane and attack the players, damaging the plane in the process. Defend the plane until time runs out. I feel like this was created with the goal of defending the plane as an after-thought to a destructible brushwork plane being made for shits and giggles. You know, I respect that. I have nothing but love for somebody deciding to make a fun toy and then deciding at the last minute to turn it into a game.      Unfortunately, the game itself isn't great. The destructible brushes of the plane are in wildly varying proportions, so attacks from enemies have an insane variety of conse

This map is a fun little gimmick where the entire level is destructible and you have to survive and protect the airplane.      It was a little frustrating at first but then we started to experiment with climbing outside the plane and blowing out windows and it we got really into it. My teammate found the winning strategy, suicide immediately and stay dead and the alien controllers won't shoot at you. I'm reviewing this as I play, laying dead on the floor watching the timer count up. The game lasts for 8 minutes.
