747 - GrandmasterJ

747 is a Counter-Strike 1.6 map converted to Sven Co-op. The level design is untouched and is optimized for objective based team play with some HEV and weapons scattered around. SCMapDB page Original map authors: Leon Nieuwoudt and Stephen Superville Conversion author: Jmal Date of original map release: 1999 Date of final Sven Map release: 2020 Maps in package: 1 Map review of 747 (originally posted on SCMapDB)  by GrandmasterJ | December 11, 2021 | 1842 characters      Who plays Sven Co-op PVP? Well I did try some light 1v1 pvp on this map just to test it out. I will say the PVP works, I was messing around and actually damaged my teamma- I mean sworn nemesis and we decided to go for it.      First off, I never played this map in Counter-Strike 1.6 so I don't know how it plays there. But I can say the map is clearly intended to have two sides clash around the plane. Since the map is de I can only assume the terrorists had to bomb the plane. In that context I can see how the m

High Rise - Dunkelschwamm

High Rise is a map that takes place in a high rise of all places. Both aliens and humans (terrorists going off the map description) have invaded the tower and it is up to you to clear them out. There are some neat bits of brushwork here and there, especially a stationery fighter jet at the beginning of the map. I felt the map had odd invisible wall placement that made movement that seemed intuitive impossible. For the most part it felt painfully vanilla.      One aspect that I appreciated about this map was that there were moving spawn points to keep respawning players close to the action. This kept things moving at a steady pace and

I don't really have a lot to say about it, nothing stands out as particularly good and I don't remember anything bringing down my experience of the map. It's a very average map.      New weapons are in good locations, there is ammo scattered around, and the spawn updates as you progress. These are very nice quality of life inclusions that keep the map feeling fun.      If you like straightforward maps where you kill a lot of things there are worse maps you could be playing. Pros: Solid straightforward gameplay lots of action Cons: forgettab

Swiss Cheese Halloween - Dunkelschwamm

Swiss Cheese Halloween is a conversion of an ancient Half-Life mod of the same name. It was made back in the whimsical time of 2002 by an author who goes by Swiss Cheese, hence the map name. It was one of the first Half-Life mods I ever played, years ago. I was excited to play through it with a buddy in Sven, so I got this port. This review is following our finishing of the mod together.      The mod as a whole offers many maps; some are quite large in scale, some quite intricate, and som

I really enjoyed the custom models and fun sound effects but level design and bugs made me want to quit the game early and play something else.      The game starts off strong but the level end is a impressive portal that sucks up the players. Only it didn't work right when I did it and my teammate and I ended up pressed against the wall with no way to actually move into the portal.
