Dark Island - Dunkelschwamm

Dark Island is a maze with useful landmarks to navigate by and a lot of scavenger hunting. Players start out woefully weak and underprepared but thanks to an amazing spawn and weapon unlock system as the map goes on players are more and more empowered. Does it hold up?      Dark Island is an adventure map modeled after various adventure media, including but not limited to Lost, The Goonies, or old adventure pulps. The players are tasked with finding a ship supposedly lost deep within the Dark Island. By discovering clues, solving mysteries, and

I played it the way it was meant to be played, with loads of people. I remember it fondly back them but I also don't remember how to beat it because most the time other people were actually progressing and I was just wandering around, lost.      Now that I've played it with three people and we tried to stick together and beat it together the rose tinted glasses have come off. I still think it is a great map, but it's a big maze with multiple scavenger hunts and tons of respawning enem

Halloween Hospital - Dunkelschwamm

Are you ready for Halloween in a Hospital? This map uses the typical scary map formula, respawning zombies, a maze, and players must go on a scavenger hunt to figure out how to progress. Throughout there is some really fun brushwork and textures working together with minimal lighting to create a very spooky environment with variety, memorable locations, and thick atmosphere. The enemies, however, are where things unfortunately fall apart a bit.      First, a look at the progression of the map: The map begins with a goal of finding blue, lit squares and shooting them throughout the map. Doing so unlocks a later area. Now, when I was playing w

Usually they are mazes filled with respawning enemies (typically Afraid of Monsters zombies) and I don't have a lot of fun playing them. This map is exactly all that but I actually managed to play to the end and beat it and didn't have a terrible time doing it.      The map is a big hospital with most of its doors locked. You can peek in through windows and see future areas, there is a lot of teasing of future areas which is nice because you know where to look when doors open and things unlock. Getting into the hospital was kind
